When I introduced the Overnight Longevity Treatment to customers at our launch events, I wanted to break the composition down: the rationale behind each active, and the role it plays. You experience the formula all at once, but each active has its own place in it, so that is how I want to explain it here.
It starts with Bio-retinol
The Overnight Longevity Treatment began with our Bio-retinol Daily Serum. Its key ingredient is upcycled from the pulp of the buriti palm fruit, grown in the Peruvian Amazon. The pulp is what remains once the fruit has been pressed for its oil, so nothing goes to waste.
It is naturally rich in vitamins A, C and E, and it works as a plant alternative to retinol: inspired by retinol, without the irritation. It helps skin look smoother and firmer, and helps protect its appearance against urban pollution. I designed the treatment to take that further, so Bio-retinol runs through both. The serum goes on first, and the treatment is layered over it.
Two brighteners, two routes
For tone and clarity, the formula uses two brighteners. The Botanical Brightener comes from the boldo tree, native to Chile. The Brightening Amino Acid is tranexamic acid, a well established brightening ingredient derived from the amino acid lysine.
They work differently, and that is the point. Two routes lead to the same result: a clearer, more even and more luminous tone, with the appearance of dark spots and age spots visibly reduced over time.
Comfort, with Vitamin B3
The Vitamin B3 Complex is niacinamide, one of the most widely studied skin ingredients there is. It supports the skin's natural barrier, so skin feels moisturised and comfortable, and it visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines. It is the quiet all rounder of the formula.
The Renewal Peptide
The Renewal Peptide is inspired by the skin's own renewal science. It works with the skin's own rhythm, supporting its natural renewal, so skin looks smoother, fresher and more radiant over time.
The Plant Exosomal Complex
This is the most technical of the six. Its actives come from grapefruit and watermelon, carried in tiny plant derived vesicles that mirror the structure of the skin's own membranes. It is a delivery system designed to help those fruit actives reach the skin more effectively than a standard extract would. In the formula, its job is to help skin look energised and more awake by morning.
Why preservation, not just renewal
Renewal is the word that comes up most with night treatments. I was just as interested in preservation: keeping what you already have, whether it came from your own routine or from professional treatments. That is where the name comes from, and it is why the formula is composed as a whole rather than around a single hero ingredient.
It is a night treatment because evening is when skin is away from sunlight, makeup and sunscreen, which suits actives like Bio-retinol and the Botanical Brightener. The scent, Hinoki Nightfall is an enveloping aromatherapy blend of woods and soft resin that settle close to the skin.
How to use it
Last thing at night, after Facial Cleanser and the Bio-retinol Daily Serum. If your skin is very dry, the Balancing Face Oil can be mixed in.
Ten years in and this is still how I like to work: a small range, with a reason behind every product.
